The Green Bay Packers signed head coach Mike McCarthy to a one-year contract extension before the end of the season, the team confirmed, via Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The extension, first reported by ESPN's Rob Demovsky, keeps him tied to the Packers through the 2019 campaign.

McCarthy has held his post with Green Bay since 2006, and has made the playoffs in all but three seasons. He missed the postseason this year for the first time since 2008 after quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone midseason.

Green Bay is 121-70-1 under McCarthy, who guided the Packers to a Super Bowl championship at the end of the 2010 season.
