Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Mularkey's job is not considered safe despite guiding his team to the postseason for the first time under his watch, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Titans are prepared to make a run at New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, and could do so if they lose Saturday's wild-card game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Rapoport reported ahead of the Titans' Week 17 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars that Mularkey would only be in the clear if Tennessee was to advance past the first round.

McDaniels is one of the NFL's most sought-after head coaching candidates, and the Titans may have the offensive pieces to finally lure him away from the Patriots in quarterback Marcus Mariota, sophomore running back Derrick Henry, and rookie wide receiver Corey Davis.
