Report: Bengals, Teryl Austin headed toward agreement for DC job

The Cincinnati Bengals are in negotiations with Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin for the same position with their club, and are headed toward an agreement, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

However, Austin is also still under contract with the Lions despite the firing of head coach Jim Caldwell, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson, and is reportedly still in the running for Detroit's head coaching job.

The 52-year-old Austin has been the defensive coordinator in Detroit since 2014 and has been rumored to be a head coaching candidate several times throughout his career. He previously served as the defensive backs coach for the Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals, and Seattle Seahawks over the past 15 years. He won Super Bowl XLVII with Baltimore.
