It appears Ryan Day is happy in the college ranks for the time being, as the Ohio State assistant will remain with the Buckeyes instead of taking the Tennessee Titans' offensive coordinator job.

Day, who received a promotion to offensive coordinator with Ohio State on Tuesday, recently emerged as the front-runner for the offensive coordinator position, likely due to his extensive work under Chip Kelly.

He played for Kelly in the collegiate ranks at New Hampshire and coached under him with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers. His familiarity with Kelly's system would have been a huge bonus for Marcus Mariota, as the Titans quarterback starred for Kelly at Oregon.

Mariota's passer rating dipped from 95.6 in 2016 to just 79.3 this season and newly hired head coach Mike Vrabel stressed during his introductory press conference this week that developing the talented passer is a top priority. It just won't be Day who is tasked with that job.
