Report: Gronkowski not expected to participate in Super Bowl Opening Night
Those hoping for Rob Gronkowski's official return will have to wait a little longer, as the star tight end for the New England Patriots is not expected to participate in Super Bowl Opening Night, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, citing a source.
The superstar's status for Super Bowl LII remains in question after he was on the receiving end of a helmet-to-helmet hit from Jacksonville Jaguars safety Barry Church in the Patriots' AFC title win just over a week ago.
Gronkowski remains in concussion protocol. However, he did make an appearance at practice Saturday and was seen running routes and catching passes, so only time will tell if the 28-year-old will be healthy enough to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the biggest game of the year.
