Vikings announce hiring of DeFilippo as OC

The Minnesota Vikings have taken the first step to reshaping their offense for 2018, as they announced the hiring of highly praised Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo as their offensive coordinator.

DeFilippo replaces Pat Shurmur, who accepted the New York Giants""""""' head coach position shortly after the Vikings' loss to the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.

The 39-year-old was largely credited this season for the performance of sophomore quarterback Carson Wentz, who was a strong MVP candidate prior to an injury suffered in Week 14. DeFilippo then helped turn Nick Foles from a failed starter/veteran backup into a Super Bowl MVP-winning quarterback.

While all three Vikings quarterbacks - Case Keenum, Sam Bradford, and Teddy Bridgewater - are set to hit free agency March 14, DeFilippo inherits an impressive cast of wide receivers including Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen, and running back Dalvin Cook.
