The future looks bright in San Francisco, and John Lynch hopes that's apparent to upcoming free agents.

The 49ers general manager secured the services of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for a reported five years and $137.5 million, and now he's turning his attention to the open market.

The team will have an estimated $77 million to spend in free agency and is poised to be an active participant.

"We're fully aware of all the work we have to do. This was a big piece," Lynch said of signing Garoppolo to an extension, Cam Inman of the Mercury News reports.

"Heading into free agency this is a big deal. It's 75 degrees and sunny outside. We have this guy. Who wouldn't want to be here."

The 49ers finished 2017 on a five-game winning streak with Garoppolo under center and will certainly be a popular dark-horse pick with pundits entering 2018.
