Survey: 70 percent of NFL fans think catch rule should be changed

The NFL's controversial catch rule has reared its ugly head countless times over the years, with commissioner Roger Goodell recently conceding it needs to be clarified.

According to one survey, the majority of fans agree.

Of the 1,000 NFL fans surveyed by Kroon Casino, 70 percent think the catch rule should be changed. Forty percent of respondents who voted in favor of the rule change suggested clarification of the "going to the ground" language on plays when players extend for the goal line, while 20 percent called for a complete rewrite.

Thirty-six percent of those surveyed would like to see the NFL's touchback rule changed as well:

Fans were also asked about Dez Bryant's non-catch in the divisional round of the 2014 playoffs, and Jesse James' overturned touchdown in the Pittsburgh Steelers' Week 15 loss to the New England Patriots last season:
