Report: Vontae Davis cleared to return, expected to garner interest
Former Colts Pro Bowl cornerback Vontae Davis has been medically cleared after undergoing surgery in December to repair a core muscle injury, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Davis was released in November over the medical issue after six seasons with Indianapolis. He was a Pro Bowler in 2014 and 2015, but injuries have limited him to just 19 games over the last two seasons.
Schefter reports that teams are expected to have interest in the former first-round pick prior to the free-agency period.
Davis, who turns 30 in May, may struggle to find a guaranteed contract in the open market, but the number of available starting-caliber cornerbacks this offseason is once again small.
