The Green Bay Packers and star quarterback Aaron Rodgers are reportedly very close to a contract extension, but will likely to wait to complete it until fellow quarterback Kirk Cousins signs a free-agent deal, a source told Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.

Packers president Mark Murphy made it known Tuesday that the team had been in contact with Rodgers' representative, and said the two sides have had productive discussions regarding an extension for the former MVP.

The Cousins sweepstakes have been arguably the biggest talking point of the offseason thus far, and it was reported Saturday that the expected final four teams in the running to sign the 29-year-old are the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings.
