Report: Bridgewater viewed as potential starter by 'handful' of teams

Impending free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is viewed as a potential starter by "at least a handful of teams" around the league that expressed interest in him last week, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Bridgewater produced a solid two-year beginning to his career before suffering a devastating knee injury in August 2016. He missed all of the 2016 season and threw just two passes in 2017. The Minnesota Vikings moved on first to Sam Bradford and then to Case Keenum, who are both also free agents.

It's previously been unclear if teams would pursue Bridgewater as a starter, a backup, or a player to bring in to fight for the No. 1 job. Concerns regarding his long-term health remain despite his near-miraculous return to the field this past campaign.

Bridgewater will likely take a short, prove-it deal in order to rebuild his financial value, and it appears teams will give him a chance to regain his standing as a potential franchise passer.
