The 31-year-old has some work to do if he's to continue climbing the list. He's 110 points behind Alex Kovalev for fourth and 113 back of Alexander Mogilny. Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin remains active and sits second overall behind Sergei Fedorov.
With his two-point effort Sunday, Malkin moved to within a point of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov for the league lead in points and within a goal of Ovechkin and Patrik Laine in the "Rocket" Richard Trophy race.
