Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick will restructure his contract to save the team approximately $7.5 million in cap space, Jane Slater of NFL Network reports.

Frederick was named to his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl in 2017 and has been a major component of the Cowboys' outstanding offensive line since being selected in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

The veteran center was scheduled to earn $10 million in base salary for the 2018 season, holding a $12.3-million cap hit.

It's quite possible the Cowboys will use the extra cap space to pursue a marquee free agent, with the market opening officially on Wednesday.
