Browns release McCourty amid roster retool
Having acquired defensive backs Damarious Randall, T.J. Carrie, and Terrance Mitchell, the Cleveland Browns are releasing veteran corner Jason McCourty, reports NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, citing a source.
McCourty confirmed his departure on Twitter:
Cleveland it's been real! I wish nothing but the best to the guys in that locker room! Thank you to the Haslam's and the organization for giving me the opportunity to lead and do what I love last season! #DawgPound (J-Mac) pic.twitter.com/exDm7SvWuB

Under new general manager John Dorsey, the Browns are moving quickly to reshape the roster after finishing 0-16 in 2017.
In one year in Cleveland after eight seasons in Tennessee, McCourty recorded three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 14 passes defensed. He's expected to draw a strong market for his services.
