Free-agent tight end Martellus Bennett, a veteran of 10 NFL seasons, hinted at retirement in a Twitter post on Thursday, saying he's decided to "move on from the world of football."

I've decided to move on from the world of football and into the fantastical and wondrous world of creativity. I'm beginning what I believe to be my life's work @ImaginationAgcy pic.twitter.com/7asa7ARXZX

Bennett previously stated his intention to retire after this past season. He split the 2017 campaign between the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots, struggling through a shoulder injury before being placed on injured reserve by the latter club.

Bennett broke into the league as a second-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2008. The Texas A&M product played for the Cowboys, New York Giants, Chicago Bears, Patriots, and Packers. He helped the Patriots win Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons at the end of the 2016 season.

The 31-year-old's best statistical season came in 2014 with the Bears when he posted 90 receptions for 916 yards and six touchdowns.
