Payton asked if Saints had cachet to land Suh: 'Cachet or cash? I think it was the cash'

The Ndamukong Suh sweepstakes are over and the Los Angeles Rams are the big winners.

The biggest name on the free-agent market signed with the Rams on Monday, leaving the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans out of the winners' circle.

Saints head coach Sean Payton was asked Tuesday whether the team had the cachet to compete with the glitz and glamour the L.A.-based Rams had to offer.

"Cachet or cash? I think it was the cash," Payton retorted, according to Nick Underhill of The Advocate.

Suh, who has taken home more than $124 million in total cash in his eight seasons in the NFL, signed with the Rams on a one-year, $14-million deal.

Payton continues to be one of the best quotes in the NFL.
