Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spent much of last season fighting the inevitable suspension of running back Ezekiel Elliott and delaying contract negotiations for commissioner Roger Goodell.

Though his fight against the Goodell extension resulted in the forfeiture of $2 million in legal fees to his fellow NFL owners, Jones has no regrets.

"When you get pretty supportive then you run or get a chance to pay the fiddler," Jones said Tuesday at the owners meetings in Orlando, according to Todd Archer of ESPN. "I have understood that. The commissioner has that power."

Jones appealed the $2-million penalty last month, but it was denied by Goodell.
