Erik Karlsson still has one year remaining on his current contract, but that didn't stop him from collecting a potentially historic souvenir from what could have been his final home game as an Ottawa Senator.

After Ottawa's defeat at the hands of the Winnipeg Jets on Monday, Karlsson was seen taking the game puck from the back of the net and stuffing it into his pants. That came after he registered three assists en route to cementing his fifth consecutive campaign with at least 60 points.

"I was down there and I saw it was in the net so I just picked it up and decided to keep it," Karlsson said of the puck grab following the game, according to Postmedia's Bruce Garrioch. "I haven't (thought about the final home game) until now."

Karlsson added, "I'm a social guy, I read a lot of things and I'm not reading too much into it, but obviously the word is out there from you guys. It's not something I've thought about going into this game and it's not something I'm going to think about for a while."

The star defenseman has been rumored to be leaving Ottawa since the start of the season, but considering he's signed through 2018-19, it's strictly speculation at this point.
