The Oakland Raiders have every intention of hanging onto pass-rusher Khalil Mack, even though the two sides don't appear to have made significant progress in extension talks.

"This is going to be a big contract and all sides are trying to make everything work," general manager Reggie McKenzie told Steve Wyche of NFL Network on Wednesday. "It's about the end result. One thing I know is that we love Khalil Mack and we want to make him a Raider for life.

"We'll get through all the other stuff. We understand the business part of it. Everybody is aware of everything and nobody is surprised. Everything, on all sides, has been positive. I can't stress that enough."

With one year remaining on his rookie deal and his contract situation unresolved, the 27-year-old has stayed away from the Raiders' voluntary portion of offseason workouts. The 2016 Defensive Player of the Year and three-time Pro Bowler is reportedly looking for at least $65 million guaranteed on his next deal.
