Report: Cowboys will likely ask Bryant to take pay cut

The Dallas Cowboys are expected to ask wide receiver Dez Bryant to take a pay cut when the two sides meet Friday, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Bryant has two years left on his current deal, and is due to have a $16.5-million cap hit in 2018, which would be the third highest among all NFL receivers, according to Spotrac. He would have a dead cap hit of $8 million in 2018 if the Cowboys cut him.

The 29-year-old's production has slumped over the past three seasons, as he's dealt with injuries and the Cowboys' offense has become more focused on the run.

Bryant said toward the end of the 2017 season that he would not accept a pay cut from the Cowboys. Still, Rapoport added that he expects Bryant to remain on the team, although Friday's meeting will likely shed more light on the situation.
