The New England Patriots have selected wide receiver Braxton Berrios out of Miami in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, 210th overall.

The pick elicited playful mockery on Twitter because Berrios is exactly the sort of player the Patriots always target.

Bill Belichick certainly does seem to have a type. And Berrios fits it. He's small, gritty, and a reliable receiving option in the slot.

Unsurprisingly, Berrios is already drawing comparisons to Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, and Danny Amendola.

What the analysts are saying
  • "While Berrios is a little stubby and tight-hipped, he has explosive characteristics and shows the ability to uncover and the toughness to make contested catches look easy." - Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
  • "Berrios is a tough, intelligent receiver who can also double as a return specialist. His lack of height is a limiting factor, but he could be productive as a slot receiver who also returns punts." - DraftAnalyst.com
