The New Orleans Saints dont plan to sign a veteran running back to help them out during Mark Ingram's season-opening four-game suspension, a team official told NFL Network's Steve Wyche.

A handful of successful veterans remain on the free-agent market, including DeMarco Murray, Adrian Peterson (who had a brief stint with the Saints to begin last season), and Jamaal Charles. But the Saints have less than $4 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap, and appear content with their own in-house contingent of potential replacements.

Reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowler Alvin Kamara will be expected to handle a larger role on the ground in his sophomore season. He rushed just 120 times as a rookie.

The Saints also have a quality supporting cast with Jonathan Williams, Daniel Lasco, Trey Edmunds, and sixth-round rookie Boston Scott.

Ingram and Kamara led the Saints to the fifth-most rushing yards in the league last season.
