Report: Peyton considering offer to join Panthers ownership bid
Peyton Manning is weighing an offer to join a group led by billionaire Ben Navarro that's bidding to purchase the Carolina Panthers, sources told Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer.
Navarro is the one who reached out to Manning about joining his group, according to the report. Manning would become a limited partner if he enters the group and if Navarro is awarded the franchise.
The Panthers are currently owned by Jerry Richardson, who intends to sell the team over the summer following reports of workplace misconduct involving him. He's also publicly endorsed Navarro, a businessman from Charleston, S.C., as his preferred buyer.
Manning has been a hot commodity since retiring from the NFL in 2016. He recently turned down broadcasting jobs with ESPN and FOX, and was previously rumored to be on the radar of the Cleveland Browns for a front-office gig.
Between career earnings, endorsements, and investments, Manning is estimated by Forbes to have made about $400 million in total earnings.
