India reports more than 9,000 chikungunya cases in first four months of 2018

India has reported 9,175 suspected chikungunya cases through April 2018, according to the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program of the Ministry of Health. Karnataka state has reported the most cases at 4,879, followed by Gujarat (1357) and Maharashtra (966). During the past two years, India saw 62,268 (provisional) and 64,057 clinically suspect chikungunya cases in 2017 and 2016, respectively. ["]
