Johnny Manziel firmly believes that Baker Mayfield enters into a different situation with the Cleveland Browns than he himself did four years prior.

The No. 1 overall pick of the 2018 draft is being given a better chance to succeed, according to the former NFLer.

"I feel like Baker's in a better situation having a vet quarterback in there in Tyrod (Taylor)," Manziel told "The Dan Patrick Show" on Thursday. "There's not pressure on him to come in and start Day 1 and I think he's going into it and he's going to learn from the vets."

Manziel, the 22nd pick of the 2014 draft, didn't start until Week 15 of his rookie season. Then 29-year-old Brian Hoyer started the first 13 games.

A 36-year-old Josh McCown was then brought in for the 2015 campaign, with Manziel making his first start of the year in Week 2, and starting just five other games.

He's confident Mayfield will find success in learning from Taylor and playing his game, so long as he, and the Browns, remain patient.

"Baker's got the fire, Baker's got the spark, and you know, I think he'll do all right," Manziel said. "But don't let the pressure of everything else that goes on get to you. That would be my one advice: just go out and make football the main thing and go out and play."
