Agent: Ex-NFLer Winslow Jr. was house-hunting when neighbor called police
Former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow Jr.'s representatives said Sunday that their client was house-hunting for his mother-in-law when he was arrested on burglary charges following a 911 call from a neighbor.
Authorities responded to a call at 2:40 p.m. Thursday reporting a man had entered a residence in a mobile home park and then left in a black SUV. Winslow left after being confronted by the neighbor, police say, but was later stopped and arrested.
Winslow's agent, Denise White, told Dennis Romero of NBC News that Winslow never entered the residence, which belonged to friends of his wife.
"An overreactive neighbor called police after she saw Kellen walking around a mobile home," White said in a statement. "... The owner said he never went inside the home or took anything, or nor was anything taken, touched or moved."
Winslow's attorney, Harvey A. Steinberg, added that the former Cleveland Browns pass-catcher "emphatically denies committing any burglary. He would have no need to burglarize or steal anything from anyone at a trailer park."
Winslow was released on bail after five hours in jail.
