Whatever that thing is, it's developed the very opposite of passive scanning. Not just active scanning, oh no, it's developed "incredibly conspicuous scanning." And it's a fair bet those beams make that "vwoo woo woo woo vWOOOoom" noise when they pass over you like every flashlight in movies these days, or that scanning thing at the beginning of Aliens.

Sciona's doing the Hulk sad music walk, and if you're wondering why she isn't just flying, it's because flying is a happy activity. Have you ever seen someone fly sad? It's like jumping rope sad, or skipping sad. It's just not done.
