Arizona Cardinals president Michael Bidwill backed President Donald Trump's Monday night nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court in a letter sent to Senate leaders overseeing the process.

Bidwill went to school with Kavanaugh and penned the letter along with Georgetown Prep alumni. Here's the full letter:

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was a HS classmate of Cardinals' owner Michael Bidwill at Georgetown Prep, class of '83. Bidwill organized their classmates for a letter of support that will be sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

However, some were not happy with Bidwell pronouncing his support.

The Cardinals tweeted out a story headlined "Michael Bidwill Backs Classmate For Supreme Court" roughly an hour after Trump's announcement, leading to some backlash over the decision to use an official team account and site to promote political views.

Why the bloody hell is the Arizona Cardinals social media account tweeting this?

This is completely insane. https://t.co/GrRlu9wT1m

Hey, wait. I thought we were supposed to keep politics out of sport?

Bidwell's letter concluded that Kavanaugh is an "excellent jurist who is singularly qualified" for the U.S. Supreme Court.
