A judge has ruled there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial against former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow Jr.

Judge Harry M. Elias ruled at a preliminary hearing in San Diego on Thursday that Winslow will face two counts of rape, two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit rape, and one count of forcible sodomy, but also threw out two criminal counts of attempted burglary, Josh Peter of USA Today reports. The remaining charges against Winslow carry life sentences.

A 58-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman have said Winslow raped them.

Winslow's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, said the case "is going to be hotly contested."

Winslow's bail has been set at $2 million.
