Drunk driver pleads guilty in death of ex-Colts LB Edwin Jackson
Manuel Orrego-Savala pleaded guilty Friday to driving drunk in a crash that killed former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson and his Uber driver in February, according to The Associated Press.
The 37-year-old was charged with two counts of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .15 or more, causing death. The Guatemalan had been living illegally in the U.S. after being deported twice.
Orrego-Savala, who faces up to 16 years in prison, had a blood alcohol content of 0.19 percent at the time of the crash, which is more than twice the legal limit in Indiana.
His truck crashed into Uber driver Jeffrey Monroe, 54, and Jackson, 26, as they stood outside Monroe's car on the shoulder of Interstate 70 after the linebacker had fallen ill.
