Gronkowski insists he never considered holding out of training camp
Despite multiple reports stating that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski wants a revised contract, the star player is insisting that he never considered holding out of training camp.
"No, haven't come close to considering (a holdout)," Gronkowski said Thursday after the Patriots' first practice of training camp, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "Not even one bit. What I can do is keep preparing, keep showing up every day, keep doing what I got to do."
The star tight end skipped New England's voluntary offseason program but attended its mandatory minicamp.
Gronkowski led the Patriots last year with 1,084 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. He's currently the NFL's fourth-highest paid tight end in terms of average annual value, according to Over the Cap.
