Miami Dolphins vice chairman Matt Higgins will appear as a guest judge in upcoming episodes of ABC's "Shark Tank."

"How do you pass that up?" Higgins, a longtime fan of the reality show, said Wednesday at Dolphins training camp, according to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post. "It was an amazing experience. It was competitive. It was aggressive. There were some great deals and I'm excited to see what comes of it."

Higgins is the co-founder and CEO of RSE Ventures, a private investment firm, and a business partner of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross. He said his experiences in his youth allow him to relate to the struggles of many of the show's contestants.

"I literally came from nothing. I was 16 years old, living in a shoebox apartment in Queens, taking care of my sick mother," Higgins said. "I had government cheese in the refrigerator. As poor as you can get. So I think this country is about endless possibilities. You have no excuses not to try to make the most of your life. And there is no room to be a victim.

"And I think the show shows that every week. If you're sitting with an idea at home and you can't sleep at 1:30 in the morning, then, yes, you can give that idea a shot. You may just make it. And there are a group of very successful professional people who are willing to help you get the rest of the way there. So I've probably watched every single episode."
