Let the roster shaving begin.

The Washington Redskins have released veteran cornerback Orlando Scandrick, head coach Jay Gruden announced Tuesday.

Scandrick was signed to a two-year deal this offseason to compete for snaps with Josh Norman. His release opens a starting spot for the likes of Quinton Dunbar, Fabian Moreau, or supplemental draft pick Adonis Alexander.

Scandrick earned a $1-million signing bonus from the Redskins and lasted just one preseason game.

He was released by the Dallas Cowboys in March after spending 10 years with the team.
