Week 1 of the NFL regular season is fast approaching, and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz isn't sure if he'll be under center for his team's season opener on Sept. 6.

Wentz tore his ACL in December, and despite avoiding the PUP list to begin the season, he's still working his way back and might not quite be ready once games matter.

"I obviously would love to be out there. That has been my goal all offseason, ever since the injury. It is going to be close. It is going to be close," Wentz said on SportsRadio 94WIP Tuesday morning, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com.

"I am still eyeing that date. But at the end of the day it is not my decision. There (are) coaches and doctors that really have the final say, but I really like where I am at and time will tell."

If Wentz is unable to go, the Eagles have Super Bowl LII MVP Nick Foles still entrenched as his backup.

Foles has reportedly been dealing with a sore neck, necessitating the signing of Christian Hackenberg ahead of Thursday's preseason game against the New England Patriots.
