Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley doesn't feel as though he'll be missing out by not playing in the preseason.

"That is everyone's dream to not play in the preseason," Gurley said, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN. "Some guys just like being out there to get a feel for it and to see. But not this guy."

Gurley played a total of just three preseason games over his first three years in the league, though he never carried the ball more than eight times in any of those contests.

The third game of the preseason is generally used by teams to showcase their expected starters. Head coach Sean McVay doesn't feel that'll be needed for last season's leader in rushing touchdowns (13). The team is instead prioritizing Gurley's health.

"We've done a little bit different approach in terms of working him out just with some things going on just in his lower half," McVay said Thursday. "Just getting him up to speed in the way that we've kind of felt like to get him at his best."

Gurley, 24, had been set to enter the 2018 season on the final year of his rookie contract, but he was given a four-year, $57.5-million extension, according to Over The Cap, late last month.
