Jones: Cowboys set to avoid 'Burning of Atlanta' repeat with Frederick out
The Dallas Cowboys are determined not to let the Travis Frederick injury produce similar chaos to what ensued last year when left tackle Tyron Smith was sidelined versus the Atlanta Falcons.
"You do lose people ... You're supposed to make adjustments, we didn't adjust," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday of the fiasco in Atlanta, according to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. "That really, really was a focal point of our offseason."
With Smith - the Cowboys' franchise left tackle - shelved against the Falcons last season, pass-rusher Adrian Clayborn abused his backup, Chaz Green, en route to a six-sack performance.
The Cowboys are set to forge ahead this year without Frederick, their four-time Pro Bowl center, on an indefinite basis after he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called Guillain-Barre syndrome.

"We didn't adjust," Jones added. "We don't want to have another Atlanta happen to us. 'The Burning of Atlanta.' That was called 'The Burning of Atlanta.' Gone with the wind."
In addition to Frederick, Dallas is currently dealing with offensive line injuries to Smith, right guard Zack Martin, and right tackle La'el Collins, though none of their issues should threaten their availability for the start of the regular season.
