Ex-Michigan QB thought Brady was 'going to be this surfer dude'
Former Michigan quarterback Brian Griese's first impression of Tom Brady turned out to be quite inaccurate.
Appearing on Monday's episode of "The Adam Schefter Podcast," Griese admitted he and his Wolverines teammates thought Brady would be a "chill, laid back kind of guy" after meeting him for the first time.
"When I first met Tommy, he had long hair down to his shoulders and he had just come from California," Griese, who spent two seasons with Brady at Michigan, said. "All of us in the locker room thought he was a going to be this surfer dude."
Brady quickly proved them wrong, though.
"He would take the script, he and Scot Loeffler, and they would run through the entire practice together, the two of them," Griese said. "Tommy would grab a couple freshmen receivers and they would go through every play and every adjustment, every blitz. They'd be out there for an hour after everybody else was gone off the field.
"I had gone in and taken a shower and done a couple of interviews. I'm leaving, and there's Tommy out on the field running through the whole script. There was no question in anybody's mind, I don't think, pretty early on that Tommy was going to be a success."
