Report: Raiders to sign Brandon LaFell to 1-year deal
The Oakland Raiders are signing free-agent wide receiver Brandon LaFell to a one-year deal, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
LaFell was released by the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
The Raiders released wideout Martavis Bryant on Saturday, creating a need at the position. Bryant is reportedly in the process of appealing a drug suspension levied by the NFL. LaFell will join Amari Cooper, Jordy Nelson, and Seth Roberts near the top of the depth chart.
LaFell will turn 32 years old in early November. The eight-year vet spent the past two seasons with the Bengals after stints with the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers.
He was originally a third-round pick of the Panthers in the 2010 NFL Draft and has career totals of 394 receptions, 5,263 yards, and 29 touchdowns.
LaFell was a key part of the Super Bowl XLIX-winning Patriots. He caught four of seven targets for 29 yards and one touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks.
