Kendricks pleads guilty to insider trading, faces up to 25 years in jail

Former Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks pleaded guilty to insider trading Thursday and faces a maximum of 25 years in prison, according to Tommy Rowan of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Kendricks will be sentenced in December.

The 27-year-old was released by the Browns on Aug. 29 after he was charged with the crime. He'd signed a one-year deal with Cleveland in June after being cut by the Eagles.

Kendricks admitted that he traded cash, Eagles tickets, and access to parties for insider stock tips to boost his financial portfolio. He made about $1.2 million in the scheme, which was carried out over a two-year period.

Kendricks' co-defendant, Damilare Sonoiki, is also expected to plead guilty. Sonoiki, a former Goldman Sachs analyst, started writing for "The Simpsons" this year.
