A pair of lengthy weather delays saw the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins open their respective seasons Sunday by shattering the NFL record for longest game.

Suspended for nearly two hours in the first half, and then another two-plus hours in the third quarter, the contest lasted for a staggering total of seven hours and eight minutes.

The previous record of five hours and 16 minutes, set by a Ravens-Bears game in 2013, was surpassed before the Titans and Dolphins returned to the field from the second delay of the day.

Those that stuck around through the multiple stoppages were treated to a fourth quarter with four touchdowns - two on returns - and a total of 34 points scored.

The Dolphins won the back-and-forth affair 27-20.
