The NFL has suspended new Seattle Seahawks linebacker Mychal Kendricks after he pleaded guilty to insider trading Sept. 6, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kendricks will appeal his suspension, which will be heard in the next 10 days or so, Schefter added. He is permitted to play in the meantime.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell decided to suspend Kendricks last week after meeting with the linebacker.

The Cleveland Browns released the 27-year-old on Aug. 29 after he was charged. He won't be sentenced until Jan. 24 and could be facing 30-to-37 months in prison, based on federal guidelines.

Despite the plea, Seattle signed Kendricks on Thursday with the team currently thin at the position. Both KJ Wright and Bobby Wagner are currently dealing with injuries.
