A potential suitor for Josh Gordon is apparently out of the running,

The Dallas Cowboys will not pursue the wide receiver, a source told Cowboys reporter Clarence Hill Jr.

Gordon is expected to be traded or released by the Cleveland Browns after general manager John Dorsey said Saturday that the team will be parting ways with the maligned wideout. Gordon has played just 11 games since the start of the 2014 season due to multiple suspensions and injuries.

The 27-year-old was ruled out for Week 2 due to a hamstring injury. It was later reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter that Gordon sustained the injury while doing a promotional shoot.

The Cowboys instead plan to add receiver Brice Butler, according to Hill. Butler caught 43 passes for 794 yards and six touchdowns over 36 games with Dallas from 2015-17. He signed a two-year, $2.6-million contract with the Arizona Cardinals this offseason but was recently released.
