49ers fear Garoppolo has torn ACL
The San Francisco 49ers fear a torn ACL for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who needed to be carted to the locker room Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, head coach Kyle Shanahan said postgame.
Garoppolo will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the severity of the injury.
Garoppolo went down late in the fourth quarter after cutting back into the field instead of stepping out of bounds at the end of a quarterback scramble. He also stepped into a heavy hit upon making the cut.

Garoppolo went 20-of-30 for 251 yards with two touchdowns versus the Chiefs before exiting. The 49ers fell 38-27 to Kansas City, dropping their record to 1-2.
After leading San Francisco to five straight victories at the end of the 2017 season, Garoppolo has struggled somewhat early this year. He entered Week 3 with three touchdowns against three interceptions and a quarterback rating of 77.4.
