The New York Giants are 1-3 and at the bottom of the NFC East, and star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. believes the team's lack of production can be solved off the field.

"I would say it's our heart, it's our energy, it's what we bring when we line up before the game," Beckham told ESPN, via SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.

"A lot of it has to do with the energy that we have, that we don't bring every single day," he continued. "And you know me, I'm a passionate, energetic person. I always have to have that. If I don't it's going to be a problem for me ... We just need to play with some heart."

Beckham also voiced his concern about the Giants' offense, which ranks 29th in the NFL while averaging 18.2 points per game.

Under head coach Pat Shurmur, the unit hasn't connected on many big plays, and quarterback Eli Manning often isn't hitting his top receiver on deep routes.

"How come we can't throw the ball for more than 20 yards?" Beckham said. "How come we don't attempt or try to throw the ball for more than 20 yards? Those are questions that we have to figure out."

The three-time Pro Bowler has recorded 31 receptions for 331 yards and no touchdowns through four weeks.
