Report: Raiders' Carr assured he'll be starter for foreseeable future
The Oakland Raiders have assured Derek Carr that he'll remain the team's starting quarterback for the foreseeable future, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Oakland appears to be undergoing a rebuilding effort, most recently trading Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys for a first-round pick on Monday. The Raiders are now armed with three 2019 first-round picks, leading some to speculate they could take a quarterback in the upcoming draft.
However, Carr has reportedly been given assurances that the Raiders do not intend to trade him with the Oct. 30 deadline looming.
A report emerged that Carr had developed a fractured relationship with his teammates amid a rough start to the season. Carr denied this notion, taking to Twitter to defend himself and the Raiders.
The quarterback signed a five-year, $125-million extension with the Raiders in June 2017.
