New York Giants safety Landon Collins appears to be unsure about his future with the club.

Collins has been one of the lone bright spots on a 1-7 Giants team, recording 62 tackles and a forced fumble through eight games.

The 24-year-old is in the final year of his contract and said he doesn't know if the Giants want to retain him; current negotiations haven't begun regarding a potential long-term extension.

Collins also said he doesn't want to be franchise tagged under any circumstance.

"Honestly I don't want it," Collins said this week, according to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. "I know what type of player I am. I'm going to bring forth hard-work, talent, play-making abilities to the game each and every week. Why would I want to play under a one-year deal? If something happens I'm not guaranteed. And even though I'm guaranteed that for a year, I'm still not guaranteed."

The Giants hired Dave Gettleman as their new general manager in December 2017, and he's now tasked with figuring out where Collins fits into the team's long-term plans.
