The Detroit Lions received some good news concerning running back Kerryon Johnson.

The Lions' leading rusher is expected to miss a game or two with a sprained knee that will not require surgery, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Johnson is considered week to week, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports, citing a source.

Johnson suffered the injury after gaining 87 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers. He's taken over the No. 1 running back role for the Lions, averaging 5.4 yards per carry and registering 854 total yards and four touchdowns in his rookie season.

LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick will move up the depth chart in Johnson's absence.
