GM confirms Oshawa Assembly Plant will stop production in 2019, affecting more than 2,500 jobs

The move is part of a broad reorganization at the carmaker. The Oshawa Assembly Plant, which employs 2,522 unionized workers, according to GM's website, began production in 1953, and employed as many as 23,000 people in the 1980s.
