Help is on the way for the much-maligned Kansas City Chiefs defense, as star safety Eric Berry will practice Wednesday for the first time this season, head coach Andy Reid announced.

Berry's dealt with a heel injury throughout the year, which is related to the Achilles tear he suffered in the 2017 season opener. The Chiefs' secondary has struggled mightily without him - Kansas City ranks 30th in total defense and 27th in scoring defense.

Berry, 29, is a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro. He racked up 77 tackles, four interceptions, and nine pass breakups in 2016.
