The Washington Redskins have reportedly found their backup for Mark Sanchez.

Washington will sign 32-year-old journeyman quarterback Josh Johnson, according to ESPN's John Keim.

Johnson hasn't seen game action since 2011. He spent four years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2008-2011) and was later employed by the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, and most recently, the Houston Texans in 2017 - always as quarterback depth.

He was the first player selected in the Alliance of American Football's inaugural quarterback draft last week. However, co-founder Bill Polian told SiriusXM NFL Radio that Johnson was released from his contract Tuesday so that he could sign with the Redskins.

Washington quarterbacks Alex Smith and Colt McCoy were both lost for the season with leg injuries. McCoy's ailment occurred Monday night, leaving Sanchez as the only passer on the roster.
